Bookkeeper Resume

“The value of money is that with which we can tell any man to go to the devil. It is the sixth sense which enables you to enjoy the other five.” Said Somerset Maugham in what people would rightfully call the most apt description of money. However, reading between the lines, you can also realise the responsibility that comes with big money. While IT returns and profit declarations are inherent responsibilities to money, embezzlement and fraud are the resident evils of it. And just like Hollywood has Buffy, Constantine and Ghost Busters to deal with evil demons, the real world has bookkeepers. These specialists keep a check on the financial books of companies by maintaining tedious records of incomes and expenditures. They act as watch-guards against frauds and safeguard companies against financial troubles. They are vital to an organisation’s growth. And if you are a bookkeeper wondering how to enter an organisation to make your presence felt, you need to work on your resume and help is right under your nose.

How To Make A Accounting Resume
Start With Basics

Start your resume with your name in the top-center of the page as heading. Below your name, write your correspondence address followed by your contact number and email-ID.

Introduce Yourself
Write a line or two covering your academic qualification and experience in a gist. Try using phrases or qualifications related to the job. Like, Post Graduate Diploma Holder in Tally with 7 years of experience looking for a freelancing bookkeeping assignment. This introduction makes sure that your resume pops up everytime the employer uses keywords like “freelance bookkeeping” or “experienced bookkeeping” etc.

Objective
This is called the “Magic Line” of your resume. Whip out your creativity and spell out a company specific objective, which makes you the best possible candidate for the job. Skeptical? Don’t be. Just use all your strengths and qualifications in the objective and connect them to the basic requirement of the job. Proofread it from the employer’s perspective and perfect your objective. This is especially important for freshers while experienced individuals may skip it completely.

Experience
List your entire experience in reverse chronology. Start with your designation followed by the company name, duration, and finally, job description in 3-4 bullet points. Do mention the softwares and major responsibilities you’ve been exposed to. Freshers and career changers may skip straight to academics. However, even a relevant internship belongs here.

Academic Qualifications
List your regular academics in reverse chronology mentioning grades only if you’re a fresher. Experienced people may also mention grades if they’re extremely good.

Professional Qualifications
List your diplomas and all professional qualifications in reverse chronology.

Skills
A general knowledge of MS Excel, Tally, other computer and accounts related skills belong here in order of relevance.
